Well, what a day, what a GFG! On behalf of all at Kimberley & District Striders, we thank you for coming and for participating. It was our largest Goose Fair Gallop to date and the feedback has been excellent. We're expecting to break the record again on 7th October 2018!
As I’m sure you’re aware, there were several people out on the course and at the start finish taking photos. These are all making their way on to Facebook and the website. The original high resolution photos are available for free so if you see one you’d like, send a message through facebook, the site or to email@example.com with your bib number and link to the photo. Some of the poses, smiles and thumbs up are fantastic!
We altered the prize allocation this year to reward all runners with a medal and a bottle of beer as well as the usual bananas and toffee apples and all were very well received! That said, this is a race with trophies and kudos being awarded to winners of certain categories. There was a little confusion about the categories on the day and measures are already in place to make sure this will not occur in 2018.

On to the team trophies and the mens was very close this year. On the day I handed it to Long Eaton as their first three finishers combined times were the fastest three times of any mens team. My GFG crew checked this and pointed out my error, we have always awarded the team trophy based on places, and Sutton In Ashfield Harriers total finishing time was very slightly slower than Long Eaton, but their 3 men finished in higher positions so the trophy belongs to Sutton for this year! We’ll be arranging for it to make it to them as soon as possible. The ladies trophy had a temporary home on stage during the race, and will now be retired as it’s full! A new trophy is being made and will be on its way back to the Formula One ladies.
One of our objectives this year was to grow this as an inclusive race. Of course it’s timed and there are prizes for the first, but we were also able to award spot prizes thanks to support from KH Physiotherapy, Derby Runner and Crafty Jack. These were won by:
Free sports massage = Jo Brailsford-Finnis

Trainer tag = Michael Hrynczyszyn
